Daniel J. Torkelson, was born in Midland, Michigan on March 28, 1958. Dan received a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the University of Utah in 1979, where he graduated cum laude. Dan received his Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan Law School in 1984, where he also graduated cum laude. Dan has been associated with the law firm of Cohne, Rappaport & Segal, P.C., since 1992, where he is presently a shareholder and member of its Board of Directors. Prior to joining Cohne, Rappaport & Segal, P.C., Dan was with the Chicago-based law firm of Chapman and Cutler and the Salt Lake City law firm of Watkiss & Saperstein (formerly, Watkiss & Campbell).
Dan was admitted as a member of the Utah State Bar in 1984. He is admitted to practice before all Utah State Courts, the United States District Court for the District of Utah, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
Dan's practice focuses on commercial, corporate, real estate and bankruptcy/insolvency law. Dan has been involved with numerous sale, financing and other commercial transactions of all sizes. He has substantial experience dealing with troubled loans, representing both lenders and borrowers.
Outside of the office, Dan enjoys bicycling, skiing and woodworking. Dan and his wife, Barbara, have two young boys who keep them extremely active.
