Keith Meade was born October 2, 1950 in St. Paul, Minnesota and grew up in Red Wing, Minnesota. In 1968, he attended the University of Minnesota at St. Paul, where he majored in forest science. Keith later transferred to Utah State University in Logan, Utah, where he continued his studies in forest science and later in wildlife management. He graduated from Utah State University in 1973 with a major in mathematics and chemistry.
After graduation, Keith worked as the general operations manager for the largest condominium resort in Minnesota. Keith was responsible for the day-to-day activities of over 200 employees, 400 guest rooms, 3 dining rooms, a boat marina and other recreational facilities. While in Minnesota, he started a high school level course in resort management, believed to be the first of its kind in the State of Minnesota. He remained in these positions until the fall of 1976, when he left to attend the University of Utah Law School. Keith was a Dean's Scholar in his second and third years of law school, representing a class standing in the upper ten percent. Keith has completed the trial advocacy course at the Hastings School of Law in San Francisco.
In 1979, he was admitted to practice in all courts both in Minnesota and Utah. Keith's practice has involved principally areas of real estate, insurance, construction, and general business matters. Keith has been active both in planning and completing business transactions, and in litigation. His experience is broadly based and includes title work and analysis of both mineral and surface rights for mining companies. Keith has worked with various national and local insurance companies on issues involving coverage, defense of policy claims, defense of insured, subrogation and collection. He has also devoted considerable time and gained considerable expertise in the area of real estate, and in particular, has had extensive involvement in the purchase, sale, and financing of properties, title examination, easement issues, mortgage foreclosures and related litigation. Keith's reported cases include Rotta v. Hawk, 756 P.2d 713; Diehl Lbr. v. Glens Service Co., 802 P.2d 739; Angelos v. First Interstate Bank, 671 P.2d 772; and GNS v. Fullmer, 873 P.2d 1157.
Keith is a member of the Utah State Bar. He was the Chairman of the Bridge the Gap Committee for the Young Lawyers Section of the Bar, the Editor of the Construction Law Section Newsletter and is currently serving as a bar examiner. He has served as a judge pro tem in the State Courts for Salt Lake County. Keith is an officer and director at the Willow Creek Country Club in Sandy, Utah.
Keith plays golf, skis, hikes, and enjoys fishing trips in the canoe country of Minnesota.
